RIDD
RIDD was a NASA Phase I contract awarded in 2005. The purpose of this contract was to perform materials testing to determine the applicability of a deployable rigidizing composite for use as an orbital habitat wall material.

Project is complete. Demonstrated deployable composites with tensile strengths exceeding 70 ksi (~480 Mpa) and densities less than 1 g/cc. The material’s mechanical, thermal, and background information can be provided upon request.
